Saint Patrick's Day Dispensation, Friday, March 17, 2023“Many people enjoy celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, with corned beef and cabbage. In light of this tradition, Bishop Silva dispenses from the obligation of Lenten Friday abstinence from meat any Catholic living in or visiting the Diocese of Honolulu (State of Hawaii) for that day only. Those who take advantage of this dispensation should choose another day that week to abstain from meat.”

Confirmation-A Sacrament of Initiation for ChristiansThe Sacraments of Initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist – are the foundation of the Christian life. ~from the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults
Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. . . . We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. |

Novena to St. John Vianney, July 26 through August 3
What is a novena? It is a series of prayers that are said for 9 straight days, usually as a prayer of petition but sometimes as a prayer of thanksgiving.
On August 4, we will be celebrating the feast day of our patron, Saint John Vianney. Did you know that as a parish, we have been in existence for 60 years? It is not by coincidence that we continue to thrive. It certainly is by grace; the presence of the Lord among us. To obtain this grace, our patron Saint John Vianney continually intercedes for us as well. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to invoke his intercessions as we approach the feast day?
Beginning July 26 until August 3, please pray a short novena prayer that will be helpful as we prepare as individuals, families and the parish community. The Novena will be prayed each day before Mass. If you are unable to join us in person, please pray with us virtually. The prayers will be texted to you each morning in the MyParish App. Mahalo!

Matthew: The King and His Kingdom The book of Matthew brings the history of Christ to life. We see Jesus as the awaited Messiah who fulfills the promises and prophecies of the Old Testament, establishes the New Law, and inaugurates the kingdom of heaven. Matthew: The King and His Kingdom, a twenty-four-part Bible study, explores how Jesus is challenging and empowering us to a new level of holiness and shows how we must be thoroughly immersed in the kingdom of heaven on earth, the Church, to live it. Register at the parish office.
