RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)
The process of welcoming, instructing and initiating a person into the Church.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process by which new members are welcomed into the Catholic Church. The journey is open to any person age 7 or older from many different backgrounds:
- those never baptized
- those baptized in another Christian faith who want to learn more about the Catholic Faith
- or those Catholics who have not received the other Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist & Confirmation).
Sponsors are always needed to guide those who are in the process. We all have something to learn about our faith and the desire to enter more deeply into it.
We are currently meeting on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Parish Lounge. Please call the parish office for more information.
Are there any other time commitments?
Yes. We do ask that you attend Mass each weekend – which is something you may have already been doing. You may go to the Mass of your choice in the the beginning, but then we’ll ask you to join us at a particular Mass on Sundays. We’ll all sit together. Afterwards, we’ll gather in another room to learn more about the Mass. We will continue to meet for Mass each Sunday.
What if I start RCIA and then decide that it’s not for me?
That’s no problem. In fact, that’s part of what RCIA is all about – discerning if this is the path for you to take at this point in your life. The priests, deacons, and RCIA team will continuously assist you in your discernment.
